The Steam Donkey invented in Eureka California by John Dolbeer, in August 1881 revolutionized logging of the forests on the west coast of North America. This steam powered logging yarder is located at Ladysmith, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

The 61,000-pound steam engine, once used to lift and load logs onto trucks, and its 450 gallon water tank.
